Batch 1 to Batch 100 - A Milestone

WOW. We’ve hit a milestone, and we are excited

We’re about to release the 100th batch of Ink Gin.

A little over 5 years ago we launched batch 1 of Ink Gin from our little green farm shed.

It took several years of experimenting before we were totally happy with the recipe. Then in July 2015 it took us rookies almost a week to bottle just 105 bottles of Ink Gin - all our 50 litre pot still could produce.

Even our two grandmas got involved, proudly threading our Made in the Northern Rivers of NSW swing tagsSome of the bottles were found to leak as Uncle Don had screwed the caps on too enthusiastically, but all in all it was a great family effort.

Check out some images and videos of this first batch bottling, courtesy of Mandy’s iPhone.

Then we had to sell the stuff! We all remember the first time Paul nervously took a batch 1 bottle to a bar.

“Gin is supposed to be clear,” he was told in no uncertain terms, "it tastes fantastic - but you should make it clear.'“

A few months later we got a phone call to say that Ink Gin had won the Australian Drinks Industry Award for Innovation, the first craft brand to ever win the category. The journey had begun!

Five years later Ink Gin is enjoyed in 12 countries and coloured gins are being created all over the world. No longer is London dry the only style available - innovative, seasonal & infused gins are now firmly in the mainstream.

Thank you Ink Gin fans for turning our weird & wonderful gin into one of Australia’s most loved spirits. As one of the first contemporary distilleries to infuse colour into gin we think that together, we played a part in the craft gin revolution. Pour yourself a G&T…

…CHEERS!
