Ink Sloe & Berry Gin is Coming Back, For Good.

Finally! Ink Sloe & Berry Gin will be released 11am March 11th.

Last year our test batch of Ink Sloe & Berry Gin sold out online in record time. The response exceeded our wildest expectations, and we’ve spent the last 6 months working on the recipe and getting it ready for a full size product release.

This has involved lots of late nights for Quentin and lots of taste testing for the rest of us. Scaling up a product to a full Fat Bastard size spirits run is a lot of work. We had to buy a new infusion tank, and tweak the recipe to scale it up, because unfortunately it’s not as simple as multiplying out the ingredients.

What’s In It?

As with all Husk Distillers spirits, Ink Sloe & Berry Gin is natural and made with whole, raw botanicals (and lots of love).

Our base gin is distilled with the classics - juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root and liquorice. Then we infuse our sloe & red berries into the gin over several months, while reducing the spirit from around 80% alc./vol. to the traditional strength of 26% alc./vol.

The magic final ingredient is a floral infusion with rosella flowers, which adds a vibrant red hue and a tart twist. Rosella is a tropical hibiscus flower which grows wild across the top end of Australia. Their tangy berry and rhubarb flavour makes them a perfect inclusion in this gin.

In this batch you can pick up ripe berries and hints of blood orange on the nose. The palate shows rich red fruit followed by tart sloe notes & hints of pomegranates, with a dry and lingering gin finish.

The berries we are using are beautifully seasonal and vary in flavour and sweetness from month to month, so batches of Ink Sloe & Berry Gin will vary slightly in taste. They will always be best enjoyed cold and neat, on the rocks or with tonic water.

Where Can I Buy It?

Ink Sloe & Berry Gin will be hitting good independent bottle shops and selected Dan Murphys across the country over the next week. If you’re local store doesn’t have it, ask them to get in touch with us by emailing Proccy at pproctor@huskdistillers.com and we’ll sort them out with some stock.

Ink Sloe & Berry Gin is also available from Wednesday 11th March at our cellar door and through the Husk Distillers website.
